With local and international travel starting to open up, I’d like to invite you all to come and see the magical island of Busuanga, with neighboring Coron, as well as Calawit and Culion Islands. Here’s a beautiful paradise in the island right out of the “Mamma Mia” movie. Owned by the amiable Boots and Tony Garalde, it is truly a ‘must-see’ place for us travel-hungry folks! C’mon, guys, what are you waiting for?

Color My World

Days before the country was placed on quarantine, my wife and I had this wonderful opportunity to travel to Busuanga Island on an invitation from my high school classmate, Boots Garalde, and her amiable husband, Tony. Indeed, we were lucky to have been afforded one last travel foray before the COVID crisis snatched away all our dreams for an adventure-filled summer.

Boots and Tony are proud owners of La Estancia, a plush boutique resort in northern Busuanga, far from the maddening crowds of the capital city of Manila, or bustling Boracay, or even equally tourist-teeming Coron, which is located on the southern tip of the island of Busuanga.       1. Well, you see, I was hit by an 18-wheeler truck 5 years ago. Got a hip replacement which left me unable to walk without a cane. And it still hurts. I can’t stay standing up for more than 5 minutes. I need to be in a wheelchair when going out like the grocery. My father takes me to and from work because I can’t lift my affected limb one foot higher so public commute is impossible. I’m in a cane at work but that’s because I really don’t have to stand up often except when going to the washroom. I have my pack lunch with me to avoid going to the pantry. And it happened when me and my daughter were supposed to travel to South Korea in about 5 months. It’s a tough world, really. 😁 But I still get by.
