When Fathers Bury Their Sons

In honor of all PMA graduates who put their lives on the line in noble service to the country. The late Ret Gen Ramon J Farolan penned this beautiful piece… Six young men, all PMA graduates, all newly-minted 2nd Lieutenants, all Scout Rangers, all sons of general officers with four bearing their father’s first name—all fell under separate combat conditions while in the service of the nation. They could have easily stayed on safer grounds; instead, they chose the difficult path.

    1. Lt Abat was using my baby armalite when he died. He borrowed it because his issued FA was a regular M16. . I lent it to him on condition he would not go out on patrol, because i could see that he was limping as he was zeroing/familiarizing himself with my rifle in the firing range. He had just undergone a knee surgery. The same baby armalite would be used by another Ranger, the late SSgt Leo Lobrino, when he was ambushed in another encounter a year later. Sgt Leo had borrowed it from me the night before.
