Team USA may have annexed both the men’s and women’s 5×5 golds in Paris, but it doesn’t have a lock on the same next Olympics. Although there will be a huge advantage with the homecrowd in Los Angeles in 2028, the reality is that the world has been catching up on the US side.
Caitlyn, with her immense popularity and projection as an upcoming star of the WNBA, was a strong candidate for the team, but it was not enough when stacked up against a deep pool of talented, experienced guards. Team USA’s results at the of the Olympics will judge whether that decision was good or not.
There’s a kill-or-be-killed, lose-and-you’re-gone shootout in the NBA’s wild Western Conference. The defending champions Denver Nuggets have been dragged into a mad and messy maulfest by a disrespecting young team from the Minnesota Timberwolves, with their 2nd round playoff series heading for a climactic Game 7.
So there you have it. I’ve got the newbies OKC Thunder and the Minnesota Twolves surviving the Western wars, while the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks step forward for the Eastern front. It will be the changing of the guards, with only the Celtics joining the fab 4 coming from the traditional powers. Who you got?
