In the best-ever finish by an Asian country in the international basketball arena, the Philippines captured the bronze medal in the 2nd FIBA World Championship held in Brazil in 1954. Led by our dynamic duo of Mumar and Caloy Loyzaga, the Philippines surprised the heftier American and European teams with a dazzling display of speed and skill in basketball.
Sagada was altogether a different adventure. The family had always been partial to water, being scuba fanatics and all. But for once, my wife, Wit, thought of a totally different adventure. And as is always the case, she wins any argument hands down.
From the country’s successful Olympic foray, to the victories against foreign teams in different ballgames, to individual achievements as well as local developments, the year has blessed us with numerous successes that has brought pride and honor to the land.
Our journey to Palawan was a most unforgettable experience. It was marked by breathtaking landscapes and cultural diversity. The mystery and allure of Palawan gifted us with a lot of cherished memories and a deeper appreciation for this remarkable destination. The combination of its natural beauty, its cultural heritage and its commitment to sustainability makes Palawan a unique travel destination.
The FIBA World Cup has just begun. It is a fantastic spectacle to watch personally. With the 38 thousand fans breaking the record in the opening games, we foresee a full-house and a house on fire come the finals. To everyone, let’s enjoy the games. To our kababayans, let’s support this national event. Let’s showcase the hospitality we have been known for. Let’s show the world our love or this beautiful sport. Come and watch.
