Hitting Another Milestone

My counter just told me I’ve hit another milestone. After roughly 12 years of blogging, I just learned that I‘ve reached 2.8 million hits now. Wow! That’s crazy cool!

I never really thought I could sustain blogging, but lo and behold, I’m still here after 12 years. My first blog: Hello, World! was written on October 2012, just months after I retired from active military service. With nothing much to do then, I thought I’d just give it a try. It’s been 12 years now, and I’m still writing.

But why do I continue to write? What is it that inspires me to keep writing?

I write blogs for a variety of reasons, driven by both personal and professional motivations. And it has certainly been a fulfilling and rewarding experience that has offered me numerous benefits.

On the personal side, it has given me the opportunity to share my thoughts, experiences, and expertise with a wider audience. Blogging has provided me a platform to express myself. It has connected me with like-minded individuals, and allowed me to engage in meaningful conversations on topics they – as well as I – are passionate about. It has allowed me to meet people across the world, people I never would have had the chance to meet minus the power of the blog.

On the professional side, blogging has allowed me to learn more about different fields of interest, and has allowed me to build my own personal brand. Blogging has opened up new horizons for me, even got me to visit Ireland to work on a project I was passionate about. It has served as a creative outlet to explore new ideas, and learn from the younger generation, the millennial boomers and the Gen Z crowd. And this has given me a much younger perspective.

Blogging has not only been personally fulfilling and enjoyable, it has been rewarding to me. It has been a therapeutic process that has helped me clarify my thoughts, and gain a deeper understanding of myself, my environment and the global community that surround us. And it has been a powerful motivator for me to keep writing and sharing my own little world.

Overall, it has helped me grow personally and professionally, and I could not ask for more. To everyone who has been part of this fulfilling journey, thank you so much. You are the inspiration that has kept me focused on the ball.

    1. Thanks, Bruce! Hopefully, in my own small way, i can inspire some guys to keep pounding on their keyboards. It truly has its rewards. As a retiree, this is one good way to keep off dementia as well.
Been eagerly waiting for your March Madness post, btw. But it seems like all eyes are on Caitlin today. Is she really as exciting, as great as the write-ups say?

      1. Charles, she is as good as advertised. As good a passer as a shooter. Never stops working to get open. Love watching her play. As for March Madness, I’m not planning on posting on that this time around…but I do plan on posting again soon!

        1. yeah. I’ve been following women’s ncaa now, because of her. which means that there’s probably a lot like me who’s into the women’s cage game now. because of caitlin. she’s doing what bird and magic did to the nba in the 80s.

  1. I am happy you continued blogging. I relate to so much of what you write about blogging, especially this: “It has been a therapeutic process that has helped me clarify my thoughts, and gain a deeper understanding of myself, my environment and the global community that surround us.”
