In this season of giving, let us not forget those less fortunate in life. The recent super-typhoon that hit the country brought much misery. Many were already getting ready for the Christmas celebration. But then disaster struck.
With haunting winds screaming like a banshee, Super Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) banged into the country and wreaked havoc over a large swath of territory covering the Visayas and Mindanao on that fateful Thursday, December 16. The 15th storm to hit the Philippines this year, it was the strongest storm by far, and the deadliest.
Mother-daughter pair, Wit and Bianca Holganza, are the duo behind the production of WIT’S Sweets & Savouries, a local granola brand whose mixtures all contain cacao nibs from the Holganza’s family farm in Davao.
I have to say it has been a fun and enlightening experience. There’s the sense of pride for having connected with people around the world; there’s the fulfillment in knowing that your doodles are making sense to a group of people out there; and truth to tell, there is so much I have learned since I joined this lovely family of writers.
With the economy challenged, plus the tempting alternative offered by the Japanese league, the PBA could end up losing its top players. It needs to be aggressive and dynamic, so that it becomes a popular draw once again.
