The problem in Philippine volleyball is really about grave abuse of power and authority of the POC, and its shameless attempt to control a particular sport. It was proven in the last two FIVB Congresses how POC lied to the FIVB GA to create LVPI at the expense of PVF. Why is nobody raising an effort to right this grievous injustice?
The division because of political leanings should have started to mend, while words thrown in the heat of battle should have begun to fade. Unfortunately, not in the Philippines. Rarely do you find a candidate concede defeat. He is always cheated.
Clearly, there is a need to resolve the leadership impasse in the POC. Who really runs the show here? Is it Vargas? Or the coup pals?
Sports is not about perpetuating one’s interests, abrogating funds, going on lavish trips abroad, promoting relatives and friends, discriminating those who are not in the in-group. Sports is supposed to be a tool to develop our children. It provides the basics to teach children about discipline, professionalism, teamwork, fair play, nationalism and more.
