On this Mothers’ Day, I want to honor this truly wonderful person who shaped me into what I am today. Today, and every day, I shall endeavor to celebrate her unwavering love and devotion. For all the poignant memories of the living and loving and learning she so generously afforded me, I shall strive to leave a noble legacy as well.
We were once upon a time grizzled warriors – fighting, bleeding, dying and surviving together through nameless battles – accomplishing remarkable feats, enduring heartbreaking losses, making silly mistakes and, as the Scout Ranger Song goes: “seeking and fighting and laughing and loving, Scout Rangers of fortune are we!”
To our fallen comrades, we offer this tribute – a solemn vow to never forget, and to always remember to emulate the life of honor you lived. Rest easy, brave mistahs, and stand proud. Your watch is done. Our snappy salute!
