The LA Clippers’ pleasant surprise, challenging the top echelons of the Western Conference, is not due to a single factor. It is the result of a combination of health, chemistry, maturity, leadership, momentum and morale. With these elements aligning for the Clippers, a team with a history of being in the mix, only to fall short in the playoffs, can definitely soar even higher, even straight to the championship.
With just a couple of games left in the regular season, the line-up for the playoffs is now almost complete. It’s on to the playoffs, sports fans, time to stock up on your favorite beer and popcorn. We are days away from jumpball.
Alex’ hard work at the Nadal Tennis Academy is now starting to bear fruit. It has been a long journey, but in this tournament alone, she has taken down the scalps off 3 of the world’s top 25, and 2 of the world’s top 5 players; showing everyone a preview of things to come.
Caitlin’s year of experience will certainly give the team far better options this year, while the new additions bring a wealth of knowledge and versatility to the team. As they develop chemistry on the court, the Indiana Fever is set to become a formidable force in the league, paving the way for an exciting era of basketball for both the franchise and the team’s growing legions of fans.
On 2 July 2018, in a match that was part of the 2019 Basketball World Cup Asian qualification process, the Philippines would be involved in a huge brawl against a heftier Australian national team. The game was held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, with Australia leading comfortably 89-53 with a minute left in the 3rd quarter, when the free-for-all ensued. Nine Gilas players and 4 Aussies were ejected as a result of the brawl.
The big event that would turn the tide for the PBA would happen outside the squared arena. In September 2009, Typhoon Ondoy devastated Manila and its adjoining provinces. Floods reached a record high and damages were substantial. PBA players were very visible distributing relief goods, providing cheer and hope among the poor victims, many of whom were still temporarily housed in the evacuation centers. For most of the victims, this would be their first time to see these gentle giants in the flesh.
