The Caitlyn Clark saga continues. She hit a temporary speedbump last week when the Iowa Hawkeyes lost to the powerhouse South Carolina Gamecocks in the Women’s NCAA championship game 87-75. And with nothing much to prove in the college game, Caitlyn will now strut her wares in the WNBA.
A new era for women’s basketball is upon us. Barring any injuries, minus some haters in the WNBA and other unforeseen circumstances, Caitlin Clark could change the game of women’s basketball in the way the dynamic duo of Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, or the majestic solo air show of Michael Jordan, has done for the NBA. Sports has the power to unite and inspire, transcending boundaries and fostering national pride. It plays a crucial role in character-building for youth, promoting unity, discipline, and a healthy outlook toward humanity. Through sports, individuals learn valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship, preparing them for life’s challenges with confidence and integrity. Investing in sports is essential for building strong, cohesive societies and nurturing future generations of responsible citizens.

It is time to correct the malpractices and corruption, and ease out the decadence and favoritism of the old society. Our children need new heroes, new inspiration, and new ways of doing things. Our children need good examples of professional conduct, discipline and strong moral character. Our President Duterte sent a strong message: “DO NOT DESTROY THE YOUTH OF MY COUNTRY!” We have our golden opportunity here now.
