The Armed Forces of the Philippines’ OJ7 and the US Marine Forces Pacific (Marforpac) Experimentation Center jointly hosted a Combined Philippine/US Technology Workshop at the Intercon Hotel last week, Nov 5-8. Among the objectives of the seminar/workshop was to look into US and Philippine technologies that could be presented and developed for the upcoming 2013 joint exercises. This was a follow-up to the Technology Insertion Workshop held in Hawaii last September where, for the first name, a local technology was invited to participate for deliberation and testing. This gesture is a welcome development since it provides our local inventors and innovators the chance to showcase their ideas and creative talents in such an international stage. Previously, the Joint Exercise Balikatan and the Phiblex had featured purely foreign technologies and innovations only.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, some foreign and local inventors and innovators trooped to the Intercon to ‘tread new ground’ and show their wares. Among those presented from the local side were the Anti-Pollution Distribution System (APoDS), a Manual Jackhammer, an Ocean Wave Power Generator and a Water Oxygenation System. These local inventions and innovations have shown much promise and will be in the testing block in the months to come.
We thank the MarForPac Experimentation Center (MEC) for providing our local inventors this wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents.
