This November 25, the Philippine Olympic Commission (POC) will have its election once again. Ricky Vargas, the man who dared to oppose Peping Cojuangco for the POC leadership post, was disqualified for reasons so vague, paving the way to another 4 years of painful and pathetic Peping patronage in Philippine sports. I am reblogging this article in the hope that people will rise up in righteous indignation to end the tyranny of Peping. Talk to your athlete-friends. Talk to your NSAs. For the sake of our youth, for the sake of our country, it is time for a new leadership in the POC.
In a few months, our people will be trooping to the polls to pick a new President. It is an exciting time, with the country geared to face the future with a new leadership, a new – or at the very least – slightly new direction, with fresh ideas, and a fresh new mandate.
Sadly, in our sporting world, we are about to see the pathetic return of non-performers as they continue to hostage Philippine Sports. This year, the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) holds an election for a fresh set of leaders. But it is clear that the election has been rigged so that no one not named Peping Cojuangco can get the chance for the plum post.

A really good post! It’s the same here in England. So much of our sport is full of self interest and just general lack of talent.
