As I celebrate my 70th birthday, I reflect on a life journey that has gone from the fast-and-furious pace of military life to the slower—but surprisingly rewarding—perks of becoming officially “vintage.” These days, I occasionally forget names, misplace my glasses while wearing them, and hear my joints creak louder than old floorboards, but I’ve learned to age gracefully… or at least humorously. After years of chasing rank and responsibilities, I’ve discovered that true happiness lies in simple pleasures, peace of mind, afternoon naps, senior discounts, and not worrying too much anymore. Though my body now protests its aches and pains more often, my soul stubbornly insists it is still much younger. So as I enter this new “majestic” chapter, I do so with gratitude, more laughter, more love, and with slightly more maintenance medication. Please read: “On Turning 70.” Just click on the title.
