TAPOK TAPOK BOL-ANON INC (TTBI), in cooperation with the Boholano Association of Metro Manila Inc (BAMMI), held a “RECOGNITION NIGHT 2014” last Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Villamor Air Base Golf Club to honor 12 outstanding Boholanos in Metro Manila for their achievements in their respective fields of endeavor.DSC_6653
The activity was inspired by the poignant events that followed the tragic earthquake in Bohol last year, clearly demonstrating the ability of Boholanos to mobilize and work together for their fellow Boholanos in need. The overwhelming display of support, selfless dedication and charitable nature of the Boholanos were once again proven when Super-Storm Yolanda hit the neighboring provinces of Leyte and Samar. Despite the province’s difficult plight then, Bohol was among the first provinces to come to the aid of the beleaguered people of Leyte and Samar.
Tapok and BAMMI recognize the need to continue to inculcate the virtues of dedicated service and professional conduct, particularly among our youth. Hence, for this year, Tapok decided to acknowledge 12 outstanding Boholanos in Metro Manila whose achievements in their respective fields of endeavor have given pride and honor to the province of Bohol. The 12 exemplars were the following:

In his closing talk, Gen Holganza assured the Governor that the Manila-based Boholanos, through BAMMI, Tapok Tapok and the Association of Young Boholanos in MetroManila (AYBM) will always support efforts for the development of Bohol. It will be noted that from 2001 to 2007, Tapok had been sending computers to select schools in Bohol. From 2008 onwards, Tapok shifted its focus to technical-vocational equipment such as welding machines, sewing machines, kitchenware, etc on the prodding of the DepEd. Last year, Tapok shifted its focus from education to tourism and sports and youth development, orchestrating the first-ever international dragon boat competition, which paved the way to the creation of a robust dragon boating community in Bohol. This latest project focuses on youth development and humanitarianism, as a consequence to the new norms we are confronted with today.
